“I have an unrelenting passion for all things art and design.” Mocarski works very much as an artist, pursuing materials and technology not as constraints, but as collaborators.

David Mocarski founded Arkkit Forms Design in Los Angeles in 1982 and serves as Department Chairman of Graduate and Undergraduate Environmental Design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, a position he has held since 1978. He holds an MFA from UC Santa Barbara and has been exhibiting internationally in fine arts and limited-edition furniture since 1971.

His client list crosses disciplinary lines unusual for a furniture designer: packaging for Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Taylor of Old Bond Street, graphics for Sony-Columbia-Tristar and Marvel Comics, and furniture for DWR, Fiam Italia, Driade, Paola Lenti, and Gunlocke. He approaches every project as a form problem, pursuing materials and technology with what he describes as an unrelenting passion for all things art and design.

Mocarski has designed five collections for Cumberland: Current, Dock, Port, Revo, and Spanner. That relationship spans seating, occasional tables, meeting tables, and lounge pieces, a sustained partnership between designer and maker built over many years.
