Jeffrey believes form and comfort are not opposites: the best furniture is where considered structure meets the ease of a room you don’t want to leave.

Jeffrey Botwin is a partner at Herringbone Design, the Los Angeles-based interdisciplinary studio he co-founded with Philip Howlett in 2006. Both partners hold undergraduate and graduate architecture degrees from Cornell University.

Before forming Herringbone, Botwin worked at James Stewart Polshek Architects and Peter Marino Architect in New York, then relocated to San Francisco where he held senior design roles at Gap Inc. and Banana Republic, developing retail environments globally. He later worked with Barbara Barry in interior and product design. Herringbone’s practice spans interior architecture, product design, and hospitality, with a sensibility the studio describes as West Coast relaxed luxury: structure and ease in equal measure.

For Cumberland, Botwin and Howlett designed the Addison and Sloane collections: lounge seating built to welcome without overwhelming, and to hold a room without demanding it.
